The Macallan Masters of Photography is an annual collaborative project – Each year a photographer is invited to produce some form of work that comments on The Macallan, and this is then sold as part of a limited edition with a bottle of whisky. The Macallan wanted to place the Albert Watson set firmly in the fine-art / collectible category to showcase how limited the edition was, and to justify it’s $1k price tag. We were keen to unify all aspects of the project, and made a presentation box that could incorporate a drawer for a portfolio of ten prints with a frontispiece signed by Watson, a small book outlining the genesis of the shots, and the bottle itself, with a custom label incorporating one of Watson’s images. The edition was launched with a full gallery show at Phillips de Pury.
