Identity for Four Eyes, Stephen Merchant’s new film and television production company, based in London and Los Angeles. It can be quite hard to develop a meaningful identity for a TV and film production company; the scale and amount of time given over to them varies wildly depending on where they get used (huge and slow at the beginning of a feature film, tiny and momentary on a TV show endcard) and they need to work across everything. So, simple ideas work best, and you need to make the name BIG. Fortunately, the name Stephen had chosen was a gift, because as well as describing what he looks like, it’s funny and self-depreciating, like him. The words do all the work, so the animation can be simple – a small surprise within the typography, that can happen over two seconds, or ten, and also works when it’s not moving at all.
